Lawn Care
Lawn Care Sod:
The recommended rate for watering sod is approximately 1" of water everyday for three weeks. A good measure to determine how much water has been applied is to put a large tuna can in the area where you are sprinkling and when the can is half full, approximately 1" of water has been applied. It is necessary to apply less frequent waterings to a depth of 1" rather than frequent light waterings.
Apply fertilizer three times per year starting in the spring, apply pre-emergency weed killer in the spring (this may be applied with the spring fertilizer), and apply weed killer in the summer for broad leaf weeds, such as dandelions, and in the fall, for broad leaf weeds.
Mow the turf weekly or as needed, so that no more than 1/3 of the grass blade is being cut off at each mowing. Mow to a height of 2 1/3" - 3". It is important that the blades of the mower be sharpened regularly.
Lawn Care Seed Blanket:
Water the seed blanket thoroughly upon installation, making sure to overlap each section watered. Be sure to water corners and lot edges heavily, as these areas are the first to dry out. Follow up each watering once a day unless a fair amount of rain is received in that period. Be sure to move sprinklers every 15-20 minutes, making sure to water each section. It is important to keep the blanket moist until your grass has been well established. This usually takes 4-6 weeks.
The netting in the matt will begin to break down in about 30-45 days. It should all disintegrate by the end of three months. Wood stakes are used to secure the netting. It is very important that these stakes not be lifted. In the event of strong winds, it is the homeowner's responsibility to re-secure the seed blanket, if necessary.
Once your lawn is established, it is recommended that you remove these stakes as a safety precaution before you mow the lawn.
Moving should begin after grass has reached a height of 3". When mowing, only remove 1" of growth. Let the seed blanket dry for 48 hours before mowing. Do not use riding mower until the second season of growth.
For second season growth, apply fertilizer three times per year starting in the spring, apply pre-emergency weed killer in the spring (this may be applied with the spring fertilizer), and apply weed killer in the summer for broad leaf weeds, such as dandelions, and in the fall, for broad leaf weeds.

Lawn Care Seed:
Water the seeded lots thoroughly upon the installation of the seed and straw mulch. Make sure to overlap each section watered. Seeded areas should be lightly watered to keep the top 1/2" of soil moist until the seed is established and needs to be mowed (when grass reaches a height of 3"). This may require daily light waterings.
During the third week, once grass has germinated and is growing, water each section once per day for 20 minutes. When mowing, only remove 1" of growth. Let the seed blanket dry for 48 hours before mowing. Do not use riding mower until the second season of growth. Upon establishment of a mowable lawn, apply fertilizer three times per year starting in the spring, apply pre-emergency weed killer in the spring (this may be applied with the spring fertilizer), and apply weed killer in the summer for broad leaf weeds, such as dandelions, and in the fall, for broad leaf weeds.
